Life Lately

Nick and I have been incredibly busy lately so we apologize for our lack of postings. Life will be crazy all summer as I am working two jobs and taking 6 hours in each summer session so our postings may be sparse during that time. Here are some recent pictures from our house!

On our way back from a fantastic, gourmet anniversary dinner at The Motor Supply Company (www.motorsupplycobistro.com)

Saying good-bye to Tara, my former co-GA, who has taken a job in LaGrange, GA.

This was taken this morning. Finlay has already had his breakfast, as well as a few pieces of bread that contained his morning meds. He positioned himself in Nick's lap, and didn't leave until Nick was completely finished. He did not get any cereal.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Happy Anniversary!

Happy 3rd anniversary to us! We celebrated with a little toast last night.

We're sorry for the lack of posting. I am currently taking a Maymester class from 4:30-8:00 every night, and I've also started my summer internship in the Parents Programs office this week so I'm staying pretty busy.

Thanks to everyone who sent up well wishes yesterday!

Poor Fin

Our poor baby Finlay had to go to the vet today because of some serious allergy issues he's been having. He's been biting himself and getting sores everywhere. According to the vet he has a really bad flea allergy (we have tried everything to get rid of the fleas in our house and yard from sprays to spectracide, but it just won't work!) so he got a serious prescription flea treatment. The vet says that K-9 Advantix pales in comparison to this stuff! He's also on oral antibiotics, oral steroids, and eye ointment. The vet also thinks that he may have food and environmental allergies so when we go back in three weeks we may address those issues as well. My poor baby!

The good news is that contrary to previous experiences with meds, he did not throw up any of his pills. He is a bit sluggish, though, so we hope that he gets better very soon! Little does he know that once he does get better he has to get shaved and neutered. It may be a long summer for poor Fin.

Celebrity Sighting #2

Not much news to report from this week. The most exciting thing that happened was probably when Nick and I were working out in the Strom on Saturday. Who happened to join us then? None other than Jake Gyllenhall! No we didn't talk to him, but I did get to slyly gaze at him as he lifted weights. And yes, he is extremely hot in person.

Happy Mothers Day to our moms and grandmothers! Hope you all have a great week.

Spa Banquet

I'm home sick today - boo. I think something on our Saturday hike triggered this, but it's moved on from allergies to something with a fever. I figured I'd take this extra time at home to post a few pictures from the SPA end of the year banquet that we attended on Saturday evening. Enjoy!

Good News and Other Adventures

First for the good news: the paper I submitted to The Mentor will be published in its July 23rd issue. By August I'll be a published author!

Today Nick, Finlay, and I went on our first family hike in Poinsette State Park/Manchester State Forest. We hiked about 7 miles in not quite 3 hours. Highlights included encountering a large copperhead snake as well as a massive rat snake hanging in a tree. It should be noted that while I had a few momentary freak-outs when these encounters occured, especially when I literally was 6 inches from the copperhead, I cowboyed-up and kept going. I think Nick was impressed! Still, it was beautiful, fun, and great exercise. We're trying to build up to a hiking/camping trip for a belated anniversary trip in August. I think our pictures can tell it better than I can so enjoy!
We are ready to go!Nick and Fin having funHalfway done!Scary snake #2 - this is only half of him. The other half is on the other side of the tree.Almost done

Fin had a great time!

Baby Shower!

I'm going to my first baby shower tomorrow! It's for my former supervisor, Anna (from the history department), and because she has done so much for me here at USC I wanted to make her baby gift extra special. I'm pretty proud of the wrap job. It goes with the safari theme of Baby Boy McLeod's nursery. Let's see what you think:

I'll also be taking my knock-off of Ninfa's green salsa and chips. I guess we'll see what these South Carolinians think of my Tex-Mex.
